How was this week?

Hola Familia,
So this week was a really intense and tiring week. So basically yesterday was stake conference and I will explain that in a sec. but we planned to have a march madness and baptise as a zone. So we were all working really hard to teach and help our investigators to all get baptised yesterday with only 2 attendances instead of 3 to church. So as a zone it didn't go as good as we hoped.. We had planned for 16 baptisms but we had I think 6... it went way down. Satan worked really hard last week.. But ill explain a little bit of what happened with us. So we were working with family godoy (juliana the mom, micaela 15, and agustin 9) since they came to church a week ago and really liked it. The dad didn't come and is always busy. So last monday we had a way way spiritual lesson with them and invited them to be baptised yesterday and they werent sure about how soon it was and stuff so we all kneeled and prayed and she said she felt like yes but kinda weird at the same time so we told them we wanted to pass by everyday to teach them everything they had left and help them prepare and they agreed. The kids were basically gonnna do what the mom wanted so we were working way hard with her all week. We taught and went with the right member (the name we received from revelation) and we taught everyday except twice. And then came saturday for their interview and I knew everything would work out good if they had their interview cause that would tell them that they are ready. So we went with elder daniel (our district leader) on saturday and they werent there so we called them and were gonna be home in like 45 min so we went and ate dinner quick with a family that signed up to have dinner and then me and elder daniel left early to go do the interview and they werent there still and wouldnt answer their phone after that. And we havent seen them since... :( it was so sad cause we worked so hard with her this last week.. Weve been thinking and talking about them a lot lately and for me its been really hard cause this is like the first time that I've been like really sad for someone not accepting the gospel. Its really sad. I can honestly say that I desire her salvation.. We are gonna keep passing by this week to put a fecha for the 7th to get baptised but we will see. Also weve been working with the cousins of a member that had never shared the gospel with them and they are the mom and the dad, maira 15, manuel 13, y juan 10. The mom and the dad and juan came to the conference yesterday which was awesome! We have a cita with them tonight so that will be good. Also I went to tortuguitas on tuesday for divisions again which went really good. We went to familia gutierrez this time. It was so great to see them! :) the hermano wasnt there but I will see him next time. Also they are teaching brian who is their 9 year old son now. When I was there he was 8 years old and the bishop wouldnt let him get baptised until they got more active and so now he got baptised yesterday. He wanted me to baptise him which I was way happy to hear but the conference was in 2 churchs and you go to whichever one is closer to your ward and so we went to a different one from them so I didnt baptised him. A returned missionary named jonny nieve (i dunnno if you remember familia nieve, we were really good friends with them and the son that was a recently returned missionary when I was there and his bro jonny was on the mission so I never met him but now he is home. His name is gabi. And he is actually gonna marry a girl in my ward right now this year so thats cool. haha I hope that all made sense) but yeah I heard it was really good. So yeah that was just a little bit of the week. We are still teaching micaela with the baby who is progressing good and came yesterday she just needs to get married.. We finally met her boyfriend in the street last night so hopefully we can start teaching him too. So yeah about the conference.. It was way good! It was a satellite transmission to all of argentina. 2 seventys talked and the first counselor I think in the primary presidency and then elder nelson the apostle finished! it was sick! :) I didnt know that elder nelson speaks spanish! Obvisouly he read his talk but he did it by himself in spanish. It was pretty good. They were somewhere in buenos aires but not sure where. Something I loved that elder bowen talked about was he had a meeting with like 6 stake presidents and he felt like inspired to ask a question I think it was. He asked "how many of the families in your stakes that pay their tithing and fast offerings, do family home evening, magnify their callings, do their visiting teaching, read the scriptures everyday, say family and person prayers, cant resolve their own problems?" and the stake presidents thought for a bit and then said "none." So we are starting to apply that to us as missionaries. That it really is the little and simple things that help us to have enough faith and strength and help from our father in heaven to be able to get through all the trials of life. I really liked that. But its one thing to say that and its a completely different thing to apply that to our lives. So yeah that was a short summary of the week. Lots more happened but I dont remember all of it and dont have time to write it all. A couple other details and stuff.. I learned last week that viggo mortensen (aragorn in lord of the rings) is argentine! I didnt know that! I thought that was pretty cool haha. Also I found out that my friend elder fernandez who is in his training still knows georgia. They were in the mtc in guatemala together. Pretty cool! Oh and mom that package from the sanders do you know if they are going to send it again or if it got back to them? Just curious. Okay so this week tomorrow we are going to have a special easter conference like we had last year :) I'm excited! and then I think we are officially moving this week... its gonna be sad but oh well I guess.. hopefully we get a phone this week too! So yeah thats pretty much it. Listening to elder nelson got me really excited for conference in 2 weeks. Cant wait!! :)

austin emailed me and Im sooooo glad to hear he is doing a lot better!! :) Me and my companion have been praying for him all week long. It made me really happy to know he is doing good! and I swear I almost like cried when I saw the picture of him in white! Thats so sick! Keep it up aust! :) This week has been pretty warm and hot but it rained like twice. One was this morning that it rained. But theres sun now so hopefully we can play futbol! hahahahahaha that made me laugh so hard when you asked if yamila is a snake mom hahaha. She is a little bit snakish.. haha I say no but elder barakat thinks she is my snake. hahaha but its whatever no worries there. austin finally learned what a snake is? Thats way funny. I'm glad cass finished range without dying! haha how many people/cones did she hit? ;) she got asked to prom? oh yeah one sec Ill go look at the pics and stuff after. Thats awesome though!! wow mom good job on your presentation! Your a real genia!! ;) dang everyone has been getting sick around here last week with the rapid weather changes.. including my companion. But I've been pretty lucky so I'm grateful :) no we have transfers the day after general conference. and yeah I got my shoes back finally. They are different a little bit. Just the sole. But I dont wanna buy new ones. Yes I've got grandpas emails I just havent had time to write back. I'm gonna try to today. haha I sometimes think about things after the mission and what I wanna do. Every missionary does. But I try to stay focused haha but yeah. So yeah gracias por todo las cosas que hacen cada uno de ustedes por mi. les amo mucho!

Love the Pictures....

hola familia,

Fuah! This is so weird I swear I just wrote you guys like 2 days ago.. haha. But first of all now I'm really worried about austin. I hope that he is doing okay :( I know he will be just fine as long as he just gives himself to the lord. Please pray for austin everyone that reads this! Okay so first of all for my week it was a pretty good week. This week we had less lessons with members present and stuff BUT thats okay cause we finally got investigators to church! :) We committed juliana 40, agustin 8, and micaela 15 to come and they finally did! Thats familia godoy by the way. But yeah it was great! Everyone was way nice to them and helped them a ton in church which was so awesome to see! Also we have an investigator who's a different micaela who is 16 and is the daughter of a recent convert and she came to church randomly a week ago and so we taught her all last week and she came again yesterday and it was great! She has a kid though and needs to get married to her 25 year old boyfriend so we are going to work on that with her. But it was so great to see them in church. Also with facundo we still haven't seen him.. They haven't even come back from their moms house.. Apparently they might be going to court and all that cause the mom wants them and stuff like that so yeah I dunno.. but hmm besides that on saturday we went to a recent convert familias house and had an asado for the dads birthday which was so good! I love chorizzo!! :) and its always fun having dinner with elder walker and arostica. We eat like a couple dinners with them a week sometimes. We took pictures which I will send in the next couple weeks. Oh yeah and we had interviews last week which went really well. We learned a lot of stuff and one thing we learned about is how important it is to invite people to be baptised in the first lesson. Just the invitation alone can give someone the faith to come to church and progress. I thought that was very interesting how just an invitation gives someone faith. But yeah after talking to president I felt really good. President gulbrandsen is so great! I'm so sad I wont have him as my last interview of my mission.. but oh well. hmm besides that we are looking for people to baptise this weekend cause we have stake conference and our investigators can get baptised with only 2 attendances! So we are gonna put fechas with the familia godoy in our cita with them. We are having a satellite broadcast from I think the area 70 since they are new or something like that. Guess we will find out haha. Also we still don't have a phone which isn't fun but we should get one this week. And elder jorquera and the offices are making plans for me and my comp to move and get a pention in our area. Cause president doesnt like 4 missionaries in one place cause its easier to break rules. We dont break rules but yeah oh well. They still have to find a pention and go look at it and everything so we probably for sure have at least a couple more weeks together. We will see. But I guess thats it for my week. But I have a couple cool details and questions. First mom the missionary mall white shirt pics I sent you. Are they gonna send me shirts or what? I just remembered that the other day. Oh and also our whole mission changed credit cards last week. haha kinda dumb detail but still :) Also mom I saw that you liked the photos that yamila tagged you in so you could have them haha. Have you talked to her yet? yamila is a 19 year old recent convert and a good friend of ours. She makes us cake sometimes :) but shes way cool and helps us out a lot. Oh and also I'm sure you guys heard but now the new pope is argentine hahaha I guess satan just wanted frustrate us as missionaries here in argentina more haha kinda cool and dumb. Also I'm pretty sure this is the first time in my life I have had to wash my clothes by hand and then hang them up on a line haha theres no place to wash them around here. A member will sometimes wash our socks and shirts but refuses to wash our garments haha but whatever its cool. oh oh oh AND I found something sick out the other day. I guess this is more for dad. Well he will understand more. Do you guys know who austin colley is? He played football for byu and now he is in the NFL. Yeah well I just found out that he served in my mission. Some of the members I talked to the other day said they are his converts. I thought that was freakin sick that I'm serving in the same area as him haha. But yeah they are gonna show me photos of it soon. So yeah thats about it for my random details haha.

Yeah I heard that ayelen got sick. How is she now? elder whitzits there now? Thats cool!! yeah we just saw today that we can now email friends and converts!! Thats so sick!!! We are all stoked now!! :) And I love my mission president cause we don't have a certain amount of time to be on the computers. We can be on almost all day if we really wanted to haha but we aren't stupid ;) cassidees doing range? fuah so weird!! haha. Keep off the sidewalks everyone!!! ;) Love you cass. This week has actually been pretty cold.. I think its starting to warm up a little bit more one last time before it drops for fall. We will see. Wow brendan is already 18?? crazy! Yeah we are going to play some soccer so I'm excited :) thanks so much mom for all the times you put my name on the prayer roll in the temple. I honestly feel those prayers so much out here when I'm needing help. I love you mom! :) I didnt know that jacob had his farewell!! He didnt tell me before. I have an email from him now that I will respond to but still. Last thing. How did you guys know about us being able to email friends now? okay well that's its for this week. les amo con todo mi corazon junto con esta iglesia! :)

How was this week?

Hola familia,
So this week here in maschwitz was a pretty good week. umm so first of all on tuesday. I went on divisions to tortuguitas which was so so weird being back there haha I got to see a couple members and recent converts which was awesome. I tried to see a couple others but they weren't home so I will see them next week when we do divisions again. I went with elder daniel (our district leader) who's way chill. We get a long really good so its fun :) the pention is way way different then how it was before but its mostly clean so that's good. Also I looked at the baton (the list of recent converts in the past 2 years) and I dont know what the elders have been doing there or if its just been hard cause they have only baptized I think 4 people since I was there like a year ago.. and theres like 30 people on the list that got baptized in the last 2 years and 1/3 of them are mine. I thought that was pretty interesting. Looks like the area could use some help these days. But yeah anyway. So we were going to baptise facundo on saturday and he fodged us again... The whole family went with their mom to a different city for the weekend.. So we are for sure for sure getting him in that font this weekend even if we have to throw him in! ;) Besides that we were able to find some new investigators but none of them are really progressing much but we will see what we can do with that. Theres a family that we found that there is like 2 families I think that live in the 2 houses next to each other and they are all related but its been really difficult with them. It gets frustrating. But we are going to keep passing by and see what happens. I got to know some more members this week better and so that was good. Oh and the other night when we were teaching a few of them from that family the power went out in like our whole area.. It was almost pitch black. And a family invited us to eat dinner with them so we walked there in the dark and then after that we had to take a remis (a type of taxi) to get home cause its too dangerous without light in an area like this. But yeah so that was pretty much our week last week. This week we have interviews with president tomorrow so that'll be good. And we have a couple dinners this week us 4 missionaries together (elder walker and his comp) with a couple families. One is a birthday on saturday so that will be a lot fun. But yeah I think that's pretty much it. I talked to elder jorquera last week and we should be getting a new phone sometime this week. I guess we will see. Its frustrating not having a phone but at least we can make some calls in the night from elder walkers phone haha but yeah. We have been studying one principle from each lesson in preach my gospel each day and memorizing a scripture with it for the past couple weeks which is going good. Not as good on the memorizing part haha but we can work on that ;) but yeah we are already on lesson 4. So yeah I think that's it for my week and all here right now. Oh and I think I'm going to get my shoe fixed this week. The hole gets bigger and bigger every day :) hahah.

Yeah and my voice is back all the way so i'm grateful for that :) haha don't worry mom I will explain obedience and leadership and all that stuff to you when I get home. This last week its been getting hotter again. I don't know if I told you guys like a week and 2 weeks ago it had been getting pretty cold. But its just kinda random each day now. Kinda weird. Wow st george? I miss going there.. I hope you guys enjoy it and have fun!! Yeah we have our ministering licences that have an expiration date on them but that's not always the date we will come home. Like mine says december 24th 2013 which we actually calculated to be right but with the 5 week transfer we will get home on like the 16th I think it is. When you get in the field you can just count the transfers and see when you go home. But that changes if there is more 5 week transfers. And yeah you go home at the end of a transfer but there are some that like in our mission there was some that were supposed to go home in december last year but went home 3 weeks early so they could start school that sememster but yeah. That's awesome that everything went good when you talked to austin. oh yeah I bet hes exhausted. I'm way curious to see how hes doing! Now I guess I'll have to wait till next week... ah man.. haha. I'm sure he is doing great though!
I'm glad that cassidee had a good birthday. Cant believe she is already 16! Thats so crazy! I love you cass! :) haha thats funny about jacob and them in austins room and that stinks about the timp soccer game that they didn't win. I miss watching soccer in real life.. We pass by games on courts all the time and I'm just like gah! I wanna play right now!! haha but its okay. The lord is more important :) haha I'm glad cassidee is having fun being manager too. Well I guess that is it. gracias a todos por todo lo que hacen para mi. son capos todos ustedes! :) les amo! chau!

How are you?

hola familia,
So this week was an alright week. It was really good getting to know the members and everything. The members here are awesome. They really all help in the work and that makes such a big difference. In liniers (my last area) the members didn't help us at all and so not much happened. But this week was kinda of a struggle cause like I said I was still sick with something in my stomach and then I got congested and.... on like tuesday I lost my voice... :( its so difficult to be a missionary when you don't have a voice.. I didn't get the most part of it back until like saturday.. It was hard but I did the best I could. Its a good thing that my companion is just a capo and so we were fine teaching wise and stuff but still. Me and my companion get a long really well which I love and we really help each other to be more obedient. And its so so great having elder walker in my pention too. I love living with 4 of us instead of 2. If you have 4 then it can be easier to break rules and stuff but if you have 4 obedient missionaries in one pention its so great and we all help each other out more. Also elder walker is district leader haha he didnt tell us until the other day. But my district leader is in tortuguitas haha so when we do divisions I will go over there and be able to see people I know! :) and I will know the area better than my district leader haha but yeah so elder walkers son (new companion fresh from 2 weeks in the mtc) is elder arostica from chile. Apparently he is really good at soccer but us 4 are all way tight. He doesn't know any english but is starting to learn. Later today we are gonna play soccer with the young men and a bunch of people we invited and we kinda challenged them so I hope elder erostica really does play good haha. We will see. I'm stoked to play!! Its been awhile! Okay so a little bit about the week. We have a 9 year old investigator named facundo who was supposed to get baptized yesterday. Yesterday is a long long story.. terrible day but we stayed laughing and happy. So we prepared facundo all week long and taught his brother too who is gonna get baptized soon too. So we taught facundo and then long story short we had it all figured out after saturday night. So we went on sunday morning to get him and the whole family had left to capital.. so that stunk.. and then we went to get a member to go get some investigators that we found and had an awesome lesson with on saturday night and basically what happened is they couldn't come and we kinda lost our 2 cell phones that we have so we are without cell phones and we had no investigators in church even after waking up early and everything. Its was rough but we still had a pretty good day. savio (elder walker and his comp) had a baptism yesterday and someone took their old phone (cause remember how I told you the whole mission got new phones? Yeah well we still have our old phones too) out of elder walkers backpack at some point and so basically we lost 3 phones in one day.. I called elder jorquera last night since he is in the offices now and he said we have to wait 2 weeks... :( pretty rough.. but we will survive! umm saturday we did some service at a members house us 4 and our district leader and one of our zone leaders since they were on divisions so that they could do the baptismal interviews. I got a little sunburnt and now my back hurts but thats alright haha. hmm it was a really short week but so much happened. Cant remember everything haha sorry. We found like 8 new investigators this last week so that was good. I will inform you when they start to progress. hmm so for jacobs sake.. el salvador is half argentina and half america. It looks and is like argentina but like they just use US money and they have stuff like mountain dew and doctor pepper and taco bells and cheap wendys. They dont have any of the above here in argentina haha. umm also at transfers I saw my dad elder curbela who just finished his mission that day. Kinda sad I couldn't go to his despedida but thats okay. hmm I probably forgot a lot but I guess that's the jist (NO idea how to spell in english anymore if you didn't notice haha) It honestly feels so good to have my voice 90% back. I don't feel like myself when I can't talk. Cause here on the mission that's not who I am. I have to be talking and saying something haha its great. So I guess thats it for the last week highlights. I really do like the members a lot and they are very accepting and I love that my companion is obedient and wants to baptize. So that's what we are gonna do this transfer. BAUTIZAR!!!! :) oh and cassidee HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIL SIS!!! :) I love you!!! Have an awesome week and an awesome day on thursday!! Sweet 16!!! are you getting your license? gonna do anything fun?

Thats way awesome about osmerh! I read it last week in your letter to austin. He is gonna have to learn a lot of guarani. I have learned a little bit from the villas (way poor places) because they all come from paraguay. But yeah. Its so crazy that austin leaves today!! I bet you stoked mom to get to talk to him in the morning. Hope that goes good. Let me know how hes doing! I love the pic of elder buxton, harris, richards. Very cool! Us 4 are in the same ward so that's way nice. We eat together sometimes and everything which I love cause its way more fun. But we always go out and teach in 2's cause we have to go to our area. Apparently they were going to move us at some point but we talked to a guy in our ward that works for the mission and he said us moving isn't a priority anymore. We don't know why but we are all definitely happy with staying in the same pench together :) Okay so mom thank you for the package! Don't like that you paid that much but thank you anyway! :) just a couple things about it. You were supposed to send me a copy of MY mission call not austins hahahaha. Did you do that on purpose? Also the soccer ball you sent me haha I laughed. How come you sent me that one? Are there not like 30 balls at our house anymore like there used to be when I was home? The ball is fine I'm just wondering haha. Also in the pics you sent there weren't any pics or me and laura at prom. If you can get some put those in the letter with my call and debit card. So yeah I think that's it. The bishop here is mas o menos. He has a different vision about baptizing but we are gonna baptize either way. Elder mattingley stayed in liniers mom haha. Sounds like your birthday was pretty good. I'm really glad! you deserve it mom. Oh yeah I bore my testimony in sacrament meeting yesterday to share my testimony and introduce myself and I loved the opportunity I got to be able to testify to everyone about how I know the Jesus lives but also about how much I love you mom and if it wasn't for you I wouldn't be here right now. haha yep I really said that mom. I'm glad you got a good long chat with some friends. I know that you needed that. Hang in there mom! That;s funny cause my service I did work helping to build a house too haha. Wow tell cassidee and david and them good luck. Wish I could be there! They will do great though. Yeah wow 2 months to talk to you guys again. I just barely talked to you!!! What the heck!! haha :) Wow very cool about jeremy. Tell him I say good luck and that hes a stud! Well I guess that's it for this week. les amo mucho! :)

Con Amor,
Elder Buxton
